If A Picture Is Worth A Thousand Words, What Is A Video Worth?

Not sure we can quantify it, but let’s just say a lot more..

Our experience is that every time we put out a video, whether via Facebook, LinkedIn, Twitter, website blog or newsletter mail out, the audience engagement is always startling. Much higher than for text or picture based posts.

When it comes to promoting an events business, there’s no doubt that images are great. They give a clear impression of the key features of an event; where it took place, what the food was like, how outlandish the table centres were,  whether there was a band or a DJ, what other entertainment there was, how the venue was lit and of course who was there.

What was it about the whole being greater than the sum of its parts? Well, video is a prime example. It provides the same information as static images, but of course brings in an added dimension. Watch any of our 90-second event videos and you’ll not only get to see what the venue looked like or what entertainment there was, but you’ll get a real sense of what it felt like to be there. That’s the key difference, and, as an event organiser, if you can demonstrate your ability to create ambience and atmosphere, you’re on the right road. Essentially, videos enable our viewers to hear the music, feel the vibe and virtually taste the food, without ever having been there. Just like magic!

From the client’s perspective, video also offers a powerful medium to really capture the essence of your event. It’s an ephemeral souvenir that offers something generally far more emotive than photographs, capturing people’s voices, their movement and other key identifying features.

The power of the moving picture has long been recognised, and today there’s no doubt that it has become the new marketing currency. Websites and indeed all other digital marketing platforms have increasingly becoming video based. There’s a reason for that.

Clients of ours who have had a videographer at their event consistently comment on how glad they were to have made that decision. It’s an extra expense of course, but one that we feel is well worth it.

Don’t forget – we’re well past the Cine-8 era. You won’t end up with 3 hours of dreary film rushes that you’ll drag out of the attic once a year and bore the pants off your rellies at every large family get-together. Instead you’ll have a short, sharp memento, edited down and set to great music – which you’ll be able to share with friends and family across the world.

We work with some formidable videographers – so get in touch and let us help you create the greatest of memories.
