Our bar/bat mitzvah clients occasionally admit to being nervous about recommending us to friends of theirs who are also preparing for their own childrens’ simchas, as they want to ensure that their event is unique rather than a replica of another that they may well be attending.
From our point of view, every client, and hence every event, is different and whilst every celebration will pretty much have the same basic elements (you want to eat, drink, dance and be entertained), they will all inevitably be quite distinctive as a consequence of the personalities involved.
The first thing we do is meet the client and take a very detailed brief. In this day and age, with everything being conducted via email, personal contact and relationship building is of paramount importance. It’s the best way to find out what a person is like, what’s important to them and what kind of party they want. We’re not there to take ownership of the event – it’s not ‘our’ party – we’re there to give advice, offer assurance, share our experience of what will work and what won’t, recommend tried and tested suppliers, take the stress away and make it all happen.
Every client’s personal requirements are different, everyone’s budget is different, priorities differ from person to person. For some, photography is of paramount importance (they will order hundreds of prints, an elegant hard back coffee table book and a slide show presentation of all the images set to music, while others just want an unedited CD of all the images). Some clients require kosher food, others don’t. Some clients want a DJ, others a band. For some, an elegant venue is a top priority; others are happy to decorate and personalise a simpler venue.
We work with a very wide variety of suppliers and always endeavour to marry up people’s tastes, budgets and priorities with the right suppliers. There is no point trying to convince a client who wants a low key party to have vodka shot girls going around on roller-blades. If the kids are likely to be a bit rowdy, we’ll advise a client to invest in some good interactive entertainment to keep them engaged. If your crowd is really up for dancing, then maybe there’s no need to have additional dancers. One client may want a really proactive DJ; another may prefer a more passive style. What’s right for one client is not necessarily going to work for another.
It’s all about getting to know your clients. We offer a highly personalised service at KP Events and always strive to deliver an event that has their signature stamped on it.
So… if you are hesitating about whether to recommend us to friends celebrating a similar event at the same time, please rest assured…the only thing our events have in common is that that are all fantastic!
